KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Congressman Fred Upton has taken a strong stand on banning bump stocks, the plastic attachment that can turn an assault rifle into a machine gun, the device that turned one man’s assault on a country music festival into a slaughter.
But local gun control groups say that’s a baby step, one that wasn’t even on their radar until last weekend.
Linda McDonald with the Coalition for Common Ground says a ban would be just the beginning of what really needs to be done with gun control if this is to be a safe nation.
