GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A special guest was greeted with much fanfare at Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park on Tuesday, October 10.
Patti Miller of New Albany, Indiana was the 11 millionth guest to visit the Gardens.
John VanderHaagen, Public Relations Manager says Miller is on vacation visiting Michigan and was greeted by CEO David Hooker. Miller received a gift basket and much applause when she walked through the entrance to the Gardens. .
The organization has seen record attendance since opening the Richard & Helen DeVos Japanese Garden in 2015 and since hosting the landmark exhibition Ai Weiwei at Meijer Gardens: Natural State earlier this year. Meijer Gardens welcomed over 775,000 visitors in 2015, making it the most successful year on record.
This Saturday October 14, it’s Fall Family Day from 1-4 p.m. Visit the Children’s Garden for lots of fall family fun. Activities include something for all your senses–create press and pound color banners, listen to autumn-themed stories, create nature costumes, spin autumn hues, and go on an “I-spy” leaf shapes naturalist walk.
