KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — If Lt. Governor Brian Calley is traveling around the state, holding town hall meetings to try and gauge public support for his plan to run for Governor…he may have gotten a mixed message from the small crowd that turned out in Kalamazoo.
While there were a lot of empty chairs, there was at least one billionaire and several other high profile financiers and local businessmen in the audience. at the Cityscape Event Center.
He is holding one forum in each congressional district, ostensibly to gather opinions and input on what the state needs right now to flourish and grow. But they are not publicized as official events of the Governor’s office, like almost all his other appearences, even though he has not officially announced.
.So far they have not erased a huge gap in the polls between him and front runner Bill Schuette.
The latest campaign finance reports released yesterday show that Schuette has about two million in the bank. Calley has about half that.
