OTSEGO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — The Medical Examiner’s office in Kalamazoo has collected the remains of a human found by a hunter in a remote area in southern Allegan County that was reported to the Sheriff’s Department at about noon Sunday.
Capt. Scott Matice says that the body had obviously been there for some time and they do not feel that foul play was a factor, suggesting they may already have an idea of who it may be.
The case will remain under investigation until they have more answers, and identification of the remains.
The Staff at the M.E.’s office at WMU Med will compare the teeth with the dental records of known missing persons and recover any DNA samples that may still be present.
Fingerprint records would probably be impossible because mostly bones were found.
