EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — We now know more about that horrible wreck in Montcalm County that killed three young members of a family on their way to church in a buggy early Sunday morning.
Paul and Judith Martin and their seven children are Old Order Mennonites. Judith Martin remains in critical condition, while her husband and four of his other children have been upgraded to stable.
Two girls and a 12-year-old boy died in the wreck at 8:30 am Sunday.
State Police First Lt. Kevin Sweeney says it’s the second time a buggy has been hit this year causing deaths in the county. He says drivers in the area should know that they are around and be aware of what to do when they come upon them.
Investigators are trying to sort out why the driver of a red pick-up failed to see the buggy moving slowly along Condensery Road.
No charges have been filed so far, but it remains under investigation.
