JACKSON (WKZO AM/FM) — The suspect in a series of five home invasions and two car thefts a week ago today in Kalamazoo County will first face charges in Jackson County.
Yesterday 36-year-old Tracy Ott was charged with invading a home in Jackson County, tying up an 84-year-old woman and stealing her car. She was eventually able to free herself and contact authorities.
When he learned that the State Police Fugitive Team was on his trail for the Jackson County assault and burglary, investigators claim he began breaking into homes and taking cars in Kalamazoo County in rapid succession to facilitate his escape.
He got as far as Allegan County before he crashed during a high speed pursuit from police.
Ott, who has previously been convicted of 21 home invasions, is being held on half a million dollars bond in Jackson County for assault, unlawful imprisonment, carjacking first degree home invasion and two gun felonies, and could get up to life if convicted.
