WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — The U.S. House has approved sweeping tax reform with no support from democrats, but Republicans are saying will primarily provide relief to the Middle Class.
A number of bi-partisan analysts say that just isn’t true, that some in the middle class may actually wind up paying more, and over time most of them will, while the rich will get most of the benefits.
Representative Fred Upton praised the bill in a video put out by the state’s Republican Congressmen, saying the current system doesn’t work.
Democratic Congressional Candidate Paul Clements says Republicans including Upton are only telling half the story. Clements appeared on Ken Lanphear’s morning program to delineate the programs and tax deductions the middle class will also lose under the House’s reform package.

A vote in the U.S. Senate is expected to come sometime after Thanksgiving, and may face some hurdles on the way there.
