KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo School officials have gone on record on how they feel about legislation that would allow some licensed citizens to concealed carry into school building.
Trustees have approved a policy against it and are urging parents to contact their legislators.
Superintendent Michael Rice says if lawmakers won’t stop it, the Governor should.
Governor Rick Snyder was asked about the legislation on Friday, but did not commit, saying he had not yet seen the House version, saying the Senate bill does not contain the opt-out provision for schools and other venues he would like to see in the bills.
He says that was what triggered the last veto. Before then it will have to come up for a vote in the Michigan House and that could happen between the holidays.
