SAWYER (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s been a deadly holiday weekend on the roads in west Michigan.
Berrien County Deputies are trying to determine why an 80-year-old man from Sawyer suddenly left Long Lake Road and struck a large tree.
It happened about 8:30 Saturday morning. James Braddock was behind the wheel of a 2005 Lexus that was extensively damaged and thrown back into the roadway by the force of the impact.
Investigators say the road was clear and the weather wasn’t a factor.
It could have been a health concern, or a near-miss with a deer or perhaps he may have just fallen asleep at the wheel.
They will examine tire marks and a post mortem report to try and determine the cause.
