LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State Police graduated the members of the 133rd State Trooper Recruit School yesterday at ceremonies in Lansing. They will get the weekend off and are due to report to their new posts next week.
In this centennial year for the State Police, it’s the largest class they have graduated in 17 years and they plan to start training their next class in January.
160 recruits began the training program last summer and 127 took the oath and received their badges this week at the Lansing Center.
Eight new troopers have been assigned to the Paw Paw post, five are headed to Niles and two to Marshall.
Seven of the rookies will be working out of the Lansing Post beginning next week.
