DETROIT (WKZO AM-FM) — There could be a decision from John Conyers in a few days on his future in Congress, but for now his attorney says the health of the 88 year old Democrat is the primary concern.
Arnold Reed is no longer saying there will not be a resignation…only that it will be Conyer’s decision.
Meanwhile, Conyers primary accuser, the former aide who accepted a $27,000 settlement, Marion Brown has gone public and she refutes the claims that it was a severance payment, saying she was sexually harassed.
Some in Detroit are feeling resentful over the treatment Conyers is getting, and that there is a double standard.
Political Consultant Steve Hood says many feel that the democratic leadership has made Conyers expendable because he would surely be replaced by another Detroit Democrat.
That may not be the case with Minnesota Senator AL Franken, in a chamber where every last vote counts.
Hood says Franken has more accusers, and so does President Trump for that matter, and they wonder why the same rules don’t apply.
Hood says there are also those who say it’s racial.
