KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — State officials admit that Kalamazoo was “redevelopment ready” when they first applied for state certification three years ago, and that everything they have done since has made them even more prepared to help businesses get started and thrive.
Michelle Parkinen with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation says the City of Kalamazoo is now one of 15 communities in the state that have adopted best practices earning certification as a “Redevelopment Ready Community”.
City officials hope it will mean more than a plaque on a wall. They hope when a firm comes to the state looking for a place to locate that Kalamazoo will get a recommendation.
