PAW PAW (WKZO AM/FM) — The ride to work this morning proved to be easier for most commuters, but as expected the first snowy day on the road resulted in hundreds of slide offs and fender benders and one 32-vehicle chain reaction pile-up.
It happened near Paw Paw which seems to have particularly favorable conditions for these kinds of wrecks because of their proximity to Lake Michigan.
State Police Lt. Dale Hinz says there was a slide off and that was all it took to set off a chain reaction. He says the mayhem was kept to a minimum, and the clean-up relatively quick and easy because there were few semi’s involved and none were badly damaged.
Only one person suffered injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment.
State Police investigators blame slick roads and incautious drivers for the big pile up.
