BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek man who was a teenager when he was sentenced to spend his entire adult life in prison for murder, may get out of jail after all, due to a Supreme Court Decision.
Charles Waters was 17 when he was given life without parole for the senselessly violent murder of 25-year-old Robby Goosen.
Even though Waters didn’t pull the trigger, he did participate in the robbery and that made him just as culpable.
A Supreme Court ruling that giving Juvenile Offenders life without parole can be cruel and unusual has led to a reconsideration of Water’s sentence and a deal that will lessen Water’s jail term.
We will find out what they have agreed to, when he is resentenced on January 26th.
