LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Dozens of cheerful volunteers formed a bucket brigade to move 188 boxes of petitions to the back door of the Secretary of State’s office in Lansing yesterday.
The group Voters Not Politicians, have formally requested a spot on the November Ballot next year for a proposal that they say will end gerrymandering in Michigan.
President Katie Fahey says the current system is as bad as it gets with no transparency or public participation.
The Republican Party says the group is just a front for the Democratic Party which they accuse of wanting to do exactly what they have been doing proposal in the initiative would make that unlikely.
The Secretary of State is expected to take up the Certification after New Year.
