DEARBORN (WKZO AM/FM) — AAA Michigan says about 3.5-million state residents…that’s more than a third of the population will be traveling 50-miles or more this holiday weekend, most for Christmas with the family, some for skiing, and some headed for warmer climes.
AAA Spokeswoman Susan Hintz says that is a 3.4% jump over last year’s number, and the largest total that they have ever predicted for the Christmas holiday.
Hintz says it could be a record. She credits the improved economy, low unemployment rate and booming stock market for the urge to splurge this holiday season.
