FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – As a 40-year-old murder mystery in Ottawa County was spotlighted this week, a much shorter cold case investigation in Allegan County is reaching the three-year mark.
Unlike the “Justice for Deb Polinsky” Facebook community page that seeks a suspect, detectives know who they are looking for. The problem is, nobody has seen Butch Knight since shortly after the body of his wife Sara was found in the living room floor of their Fennville home on January 13th, 2015. Knight purportedly called 911 to tell of her death, saying that he was “getting ready to leave the country.” An autopsy revealed that she was killed two days before.
Butch Knight hasn’t been seen since checking out of a Maine motel six days after the phone call, and efforts to search for him in the wilderness near the Canadian border have been fruitless. The “Detroit News” wrote a feature story on the mystery in today’s editions.
Anyone with any information on this case is asked to contact the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.
