LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Workers who make the minimum wage in Michigan will be getting a 35 cent raise beginning next week.
At $9.25/hr, it’s the last of three pre-set installment approved by the legislature in 2014 to head off an even bigger minimum wage being proposed by a petition initiative.
After this year, the minimum rise by the rate of inflation, as long as the economy meets a certain criteria.
There has already been some interest expressed to pursue another petition initiative in Michigan, to follow states where even higher minimums are being sought.
