As part of the Build Back Better initiative the Department of Agriculture plans to invest over $4 billion to strengthen critical supply chains.
According to USDA the move is the result of lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic along with recent supply chain disruptions. The effort will create new jobs, tackle climate change while reinforcing the supply chains. The Department of Agriculture says recent events have exposed the immediate need for action.
Secretary Vilsack says the move will spur billions in leveraged funding from the private sector as it gains nationwide traction. Funding is coming from the America Rescue Plan Act and earlier assistance programs.
