PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man from Portage who was accused in a shooting and police chase will stand trial, according to a report from WWMT Wednesday evening.
Last April, police had been searching for 22-year-old Jeremy Thrasher, who was wanted in connection to a shooting. Police said Thrasher knew the victim, but
that person was expected to recover from their wounds.
On April 15, police had seen Thrasher at an area gas station, surrounding his vehicle with unmarked cruisers. Thrasher crashed through the vehicles and led police on a lengthy chase.
At one point during that chase, Thrasher was driving the wrong way down Michigan Avenue in Downtown Kalamazoo.
The chase ended when he crashed his vehicle into a building near the Park Trades Center on West Kalamazoo Avenue. He fled the scene on foot, but was apprehended.
Police also recovered a handgun with ammo in the vehicle.
He now faces a plethora of charges relating to both cases. On June 9, WWMT reported that he had waived his exam hearing, and will now be standing trial.
