PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Residents of the Portage area will have a chance to learn about reptiles this weekend, thanks to a new event presented by Portage Parks & Recreation.
The City of Portage will host the event “Portage Reptile Roundup” (formerly Repticon) this Saturday, June 12 from 12 – 4 p.m.
The event will take place at the Celery Flats Historical Area, located at 7335 Garden Lane.
The City will be joined by the Michigan Society of Herpetologists and Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary, along with other reptiles and amphibians that will be on-site.
Participants will be able to get an up-close look at different types of reptiles and learn about reptile facts.
Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary will hold two presentations during the afternoon (at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.) and the Herpetologist Society will have an assortment of reptiles on display.
Both will focus on reptilian characteristics, habitats and fun facts.
Admission is free and open to the public with no registration required.
