CHICAGO, IL (WKZO AM/FM) – Dylan Cease put the clamps on the Detroit Tigers in the White Sox 3-0 win in Chicago Sunday afternoon.
Cease struck out 10 and gave up just five hits in seven scoreless innings for the win. Liam Hendriks closed it out for his 15th save. Andrew Vaughn hit an RBI single and Tim Anderson singled to drive in two more runs in a three-run second inning for the White Sox, who took three-of-four in the series.
Jose Urena allowed the three runs in five innings for Detroit to take the loss. Detroit struck out 14 times total.
The Tigers dropped three-of-four in the series. They open up a six-game home stand tomorrow against Seattle.
Tony La Russa is moving up the all-time wins list for managers, surpassing John McGraw for second-place all-time. He got there with his Chicago White Sox beating the Detroit Tigers Sunday.
The 76-year-old La Russa came out of a decade-long retirement to work for the team he started his managerial career with in 1979. He only trails Connie Mack on the all-times wins list.
