ALLEN PARK (WKZO) — The Detroit Lions may use the franchise tag on pending free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh
General Manager Martin Mayhew says they would prefer to sign him to a long-term contract, but the one-year franchise tag is an option. The Lions have until March 2nd to decide.
Mayhew adds that Suh has indicated he wants to remain in Detroit. The 28-year-old has been a force on the Lions’ defensive line, but has also been plagued by fines and suspensions for rough play in his five NFL seasons.
Detroit took Suh with the second-overall pick in the 2010 draft out of Nebraska.
