DETROIT (WKZO) — It will take another week or two to find out who the overall automotive global sales leader is. What is known, though, is that it is not General Motors.
The Detroit-based automaker did have a strong year in 2014, but it wasn’t strong enough to outsell Volkswagen. GM sold a total of 9.9-million vehicles globally in 2014 which was a two-percent increase over the year before. That number was substantially lower than VW’s number of 10.1-million vehicles.
Toyota is expected to post their annual tally by the end of the month. Last year they sold 10.3-million vehicles.
