DETROIT (WKZO) — A city official is asking the state to give Detroit the guidelines needed to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries.
Councilman James Tate says there are 180 facilities in Detroit but notes state law is vague on whether these dispensaries can grow and sell marijuana. The law allows people registered with the state to provide the drug.
Tate notes two bills in the State Senate never made it to a full vote after being approved by the state House. He says the passage of those two measures will help Detroit regulate the 180 dispensaries in the city.
