LANSING (WKZO) — The Michigan Department of Treasury is now processing Home Heating Credits for the 2014 tax year. That credit is used to help low-income residents with their winter energy bills, and the average credit last year was 130-dollars.
Treasury officials are encouraging people who qualify for the credit to e-file their tax returns to speed up processing and cut down on mistakes. People may apply for the HHC even without filing a tax return.
