FLINT (WKZO) — Flint is no longer listed on the FBI’s crime report, but not because conditions in the city have improved.
The FBI has dropped the city from the list for the first time in decades because its population no longer qualifies it to be included. The agency posts crime data for cities of at least 100-thousand residents once a year in its Preliminary Semiannual FBI Uniform Crime Report, and includes all U.S. cities in a report later in the year.
Flint’s population has fallen under that threshold, according to the latest estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
