LANSING (WKZO) — The hiking and bicycling trail that stretches from Belle Isle Park in Detroit to Ironwood in the Upper Peninsula will be known as Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail.
The Department of Natural Resources announced the name, selected from nearly nine-thousand suggestions from state residents. DNR Director Keith Creagh says the name “captures the beauty and strength of our state’s exceptional national and cultural resources.”
The Iron Belle Trail is not completed, but DNR officials note “significant portions” are done in both peninsulas.
