HOLLAND (WHTC) – A Holland teenager will stand trial in the shooting death of a 22-year-old Chicago-area man earlier this month at an apartment on the city’s south side. Seventeen-year-old Davon Walker was bound over to the Allegan County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon on manslaughter and felony firearms charges following an hourlong preliminary hearing in 58th District Court. Walker is charged in the January 5th shooting death of Derrick Ruff-Shingles at the Harbor Village Apartments on West 40th Street. A witness to the shooting testified during the hearing she saw the suspect playing with a gun before the victim was shot. Investigators say there was no history of trouble between Walker and Ruff-Shingles. The suspect remains held in the Ottawa County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
