BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Authorities in Battle Creek have a man in custody, accused in two suspicious incidents including an attempted abduction of a female bicyclist.
A 38-year-old Bedford Township man is accused of grabbing the 34-year-old woman in the 1600 block of West Michigan Avenue in the Urbandale area just before 4:00 Friday afternoon. He allegedly tried to get her into his vehicle, but witnesses in the area began to assist and the man fled the scene.
Apparently, the man had been cited just a half-hour earlier for a prowling incident involving another woman in the 100 block of Lacey Avenue. He had been spotted in her backyard where her two boys were in a swimming pool.
Based on the descriptions, police determined it was the same individual in both incidents and they went to his home and made the arrest. The man claimed that he thought the woman on the bike was his sister.
His name has not been released.
