KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police officials in Kalamazoo are looking for more answers, and suspects, following another weekend of gun violence around the city. Three separate shooting incidents were reported, all within just a few hours, which left four victims injured.
The first one happened shooting happened before 9:30 Saturday evening near East Main St. and Edwin Ave.. Police say a 30-year-old Kalamazoo resident was found with a gunshot wound who was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
While investigating the first shooting, police were called to reports of a gathering of nearly 400 people on Mabel St. near North Westnedge just before midnight where numerous shots had been fired. Two 19-year-old women later showed up at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The third shooting happened on VanZee Street near Reed Ave at around 12:45 early Sunday. A 21-year-old victim from Kalamazoo said he was shot while walking along the road. He was treated and released.
