LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Next year’s Republican Presidential Primary may fall on March 15th after the state Senate today approved the date. The scheduling enables the Michigan GOP to not be sanctioned by the Republican National Committee for holding its primary earlier than allowed under party rules.
In 2012 and 2008, Michigan had its national GOP convention voting sliced in half for violating this policy. The House now takes up the matter.
State Democrats are considering their presidential nomination options; the national party today selected Philadelphia as the site for the 2016 National Convention.
