LANSING, MI (WHTC) – In an effort to thwart Legislative moves towards abolishing the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System and moving new hires to a 401-K setup, a coalition led by the Michigan Education Association trotted out a new National Institute of Retirement Security study claiming that such a move would lead to lessening benefits for employees at a higher cost. Proponents of the change counter that the switch would save public money in liability costs without risk to covered employees.
