LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The debate in Lansing over whether to mandate body cameras for armed state troopers, county sheriff’s deputies and municipal police officers in Michigan may come down to money. Republican leaders in both the House and Senate say that there isn’t extra money in the budget to allocate 2.5 million dollars for the initiative, while Democratic sponsors of the bill claim lawmakers can find the cash in other parts of the spending plan, although the Dems didn’t offer any suggestions themselves.
