LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Governor Rick Snyder has issued an executive order moving all school reform functions out of the state education department and into the Department of Technology, Management and Budget. Word of this came yesterday during the state Board of Education’s meeting about selecting a new superintendent.
Lansing observers say that the move would bring the reform process more under the Governor’s control and out of the hands of the independently-elected Board. The order takes effect in 60 days.
