LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Democratic leaders in the state Legislature have unveiled a “Michigan Government Reform and Accountability Plan” as part of national “Sunshine Week” meant to promote more open government. Among the proposals put forward are required personal financial disclosures for all state elected officials and a two-year ban on lobbying for term-limited lawmakers once they leave office. Majority Republicans referred the pieces of legislation in this package to various committees for review.
