State Lawmaker Wants Reforms on Gun-Free School Zones

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – MIRS News reports that Republican state Senator Mike Green of Mayville is sponsoring a bill that would allow a properly-licensed person to carry a concealed weapon in schools while eliminating the open display of such weapons. Green also wants to increase requirements for a permit in order for training on handling weapons in crowded situations such as school hallways. Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, who has a CCW license, is reportedly talking with the Governor’s office on Green’s bill.
