SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – During last night’s open house and public hearing, officials of the Palisades nuclear power plant said that they aim to increase transparency and public outreach. This comes after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission lowered the facility’s safety rating to Column Two, leading to additional oversight. The agency says that the plant near Covert is operating safely, but lowered the rating due to a couple of incidents last year. More random NRC inspections and two additional open houses are slated in 2015.
