LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The House sent to the Senate a six-bill package that would do away with the optional fourth Tuesday in February date for local entities to put matters up for votes in Michigan. Proponents claim this would save tax dollars and shift proposals to May, August and November elections that have greater voter turnout. Opponents counter that construction of vital capital improvements could be delayed, and that such proposals may be easily overlooked on “blanket ballots” in high-turnout elections.
