TRAVERSE CITY, MI (WHTC) – The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Traverse City is asking for help identifying several shipwrecks an aircrew discovered on Friday.
They have posted six photos to their Facebook page of the shipwrecks located from Sleeping Bear Point to Leland. Several have been identified, including the 121-foot long brig James McBride, which sunk during a storm on October 19, 1857 and lies below five to 15 feet of water near Sleeping Bear Point.
