State AG Office Posts Legal Costs in Same-Sex Marriage Law Court Fight

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – As oral arguments are set tomorrow before the US Supreme Court on Michigan’s same-sex marriage ban, the state Attorney General’s office has told the Legislature that at least 176 thousand dollars has been spent in legal fees during the now three-year-long case. The majority of the costs have come from retaining expert witnesses in lower court proceedings. Democrats in the state House have tried to block future funding in the matter without success. A Supreme Court decision is expected in June.
