COLOMA, MI (WHTC) – The search for a 47-year-old Coloma man wanted in the murder of his 79-year-old mother has ended with a Tuesday morning arrest.
Coloma Township police provided few details about the circumstances that led to the apprehension of Monty Ray Menefee, three days after the body of Lavonne Monta was found in an “illegal” makeshift living quarters at an old Washington Street industrial building that the two had shared. Menefee allegedly abandoned his SUV and stole a pickup truck in Fennville after the incident; that pickup truck was spotted by Ohio Highway Patrol troopers, who took him into custody.
