Bill to Cloak Major State Lottery Winners’ Identities Moves in Legislature

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Legislation that would allow big-money state Lottery winners to remain anonymous should move out of the House Regulatory Reform Committee and onto the floor of the Lower Chamber next week. MIRS News reports that both sides of the political aisle are in favor of the bill, citing privacy concerns if the practice of publicizing jackpot winners in the Mega Million, Powerball and Lucky for Life games continues. State Lottery officials are opposed on transparency and marketing grounds.
