State Senate to Consider Bill Maintaining Charitable Groups’ Gaming Rights

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state Senate Regulatory Reform Committee moved legislation that would allow charitable organizations to continue operating fund-raising gaming operations. The bill would enable non-profit groups to still hold Vegas Nights, Millionaire Parties and other similar activities in light of new, stricter Michigan Gaming Control Board rules that some say are tilted towards ending such events and protecting Detroit’s struggling three casinos. A court ruling challenging those MGCB rules is pending.
