LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A joint state House-Senate conference committee today approved an amended state K-12 education budget for Fiscal 2016. MIRS News reports that 50 million of the 13.9 billion-dollar “School Bus” gives districts between 70 and 140 more dollars per pupil from current funding levels, with over 300 million for at-risk school funding, a 70 million-dollar increase, and 50 million dollars “set aside,” reportedly for the financially ailing Detroit Public Schools. Both chambers will vote on the budget later this week.
