LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Residential customers of Consumers Energy and DTE Energy who use 500 kilowatt hours a month or more are seeing a nearly three-dollar hike in their monthly bills, under a provision in state law that allows such increases while the Michigan Public Service Commission considers whether to approve the hike or now. Such a decision is not expected until December, a year after the two utilities had initially asked for the increase in order to pay for new plants and other operational needs.
