DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers posted a four-spot in the second inning as they held off the Kansas City Royals 4-3 in Detroit Thursday afternoon.
Robbie Grossman collected two hits and an RBI as Detroit swept the three game series and won its fourth game in a row.
Spencer Turnbull moved to 2-and-2, giving up one run over six-and-a-third while striking out seven. Michael Fulmer picked up his second save of the year.
Carlos Santana and Salvador Perez each had an RBI for the Royals in the ninth to close the gap to one. Daniel Lynch took the loss, giving up four runs, three earned, over two-and-two-thirds for K-C.
Detroit begins a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs at Comerica Park tonight. Tarik Skubal gets the nod for the Tigers as the Cubs send Jake Arrieta to the mound in the opener, with the opening pitch at 7:10 p.m.
