WALKER, MI (WHTC) – Last Friday was National Take Your Dog to Work Day and many offices around the country prepared to welcome man’s best friend into the workplace. One business in the Grand Rapids area, however, has dogs running around their office all year round.
Bissel Homecare, a floor-cleaning company located in Walker, allows dogs to roam the office any day of the year. The company was just included in a list of Best Places to Work, compiled by a dog enthusiast magazine and website called Bark. Other companies on the list include Amazon headquarters in Seattle, WA; Ben $ Jerry’s in South Burlington, VT; and Google in Mountain View, CA.
Bissell even has an indoor dog spa in its main office called the Bissell Pet Spot, where employees can bring their pets to play and give them a bath. Cathy Bissell, wife of CEO Mark Bissell and a company executive, told mlive.com that letting dogs come to work with their masters is good for the company. “All of the dogs got along and were very well behaved,” said Bissell. “The energy in the office was high. We saw lots of smiles. Everyone had a lot fun celebrating a special day for our furry family members.”
