Michigan receives $5.5 million to help combat possible infectious disease outbreaks

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Michigan is in line for over $5.5 million in federal funding aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness involving infectious diseases. The money from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as from the office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, will go to hospitals and ambulance services in supporting the state’s Special Pathogen Response Network, established last year in the wake of the nationwide Ebola outbreak.
