PLAINWELL, MI (WHTC) – The US Environmental Protection Agency has extended the public comment period on its plan for cleaning up the former Plainwell Paper Mill site of contaminated soil. The initial window was set to close this Wednesday, but EPA officials have added an additional 30 days through August 8th for gathering reaction before finalizing their plans. The soil at that site has high levels of arsenic and other contaminants. There was a public hearing on the matter three weeks ago.
The proposal is available through the EPA’s website.
